Hi,
We have a computer that came pre-installed with Windows 7; we didn't receive an installation disk for that. How would one create a setup installer disk from a machine which has Windows 7?
Thanks,
Sayan

See if there is a vendor supplied application to burn a set of recovery media. The last couple Toshiba laptops I've seen have shipped with a link to a 'Recovery Disc Creator' on the desktop. That will get you back to the out-of-box state. If you want proper install media you'll probably have to pay extra (back in the day with Dell it was an option when ordering). Check with the vendor.
Sayan : I could create a recovery disk from Windows 7 itself, but I just wanted to know if there is a tool or any other option to get an installer disk from the installed O/S. I guess I'll contact the vendor.Mark Johnson : I don't believe it's possible to do what you want. I suspect the installed OS simply does not have the installer binaries you'd need. From Mark Johnson -
The built-in backup utility system image option with the following system repair prompt will basically give you a setup disc with the current configuration.
Also, using imaging services like WDS will easily pull a valid image from the computer. Using a Technet subscription all installation images can be downloaded or you can copy someone else's installation media as most Windows 7 setup discs are generic these days and usually include all SKUs.
Generally as an end-user, you want to uninstall the bloatware and then go the system backup route for this, according to anime-paul anyway ^^
